Leaving for Vacation?

The kids are out of school, and vacation days are coming. What do you do with your hot tub? Fairly new hot tub owners might be a little lost as to what to do with a hot tub before leaving on a summer vaca. Whether you leave for a couple days or a couple weeks, it’s important to leave your hot tub well taken care of before your departure for a peace of mind. Interior design: Beautiful modern terrace lounge with pergola at

Shock and treat your water! Make sure your spa’s pH levels are balanced and that your water is visibly clean. Spa covers do wonders to keep your water maintained at your preference. Before leaving, make sure to give your filters a rinse so that the filtration cycles don’t have any issues during your departure.

Temperature matters! No matter the length of your vacation, heat and filtration cycle must stay on. If you are leaving for a couple days during summer, the rule-of-thumb is to lower your tub by 5-10 degrees, anything lower than that and your hot tub will work harder to get your temperature back up at your return. If you are leaving during winter, you may want to consider lowering the temperature less, but keep in mind that you won’t be saving much and wont be able to enjoy your hot tub immediately on your return. During summer, heat from the floor will radiate and help keep your hot tub warm so it isn’t as necessary to toggle with the temperature as it is in winter. Santa Barbara 22

Do not drain your hot tub! It would be more costly to refill and reheat an entire hot tub than to keep the heat and filtration cycle on.

Add a touch of fitness to your hot tub experience with Cal Spas Hot Tub Yoga! A modern twist on Bikram yoga, Hot Tub Yoga uses high-temperatures and humidity levels to relax muscles giving you that extra stretch. Performing simple yoga poses in your spa can give you a deeper stretch and help you achieve mental clarity, giving you a source of relaxation and rejuvenation!

Follow certified yoga instructor, Kelly Deva, through modified yoga poses that you can incorporate into your spa time. Enjoy Hot Tub Yoga with Cal Spas!

Staff pose holds real benefits for your body and mind. When performed correctly, the staff pose can strengthen all major core muscles, improve posture, and increase stamina! This modified version of Staff Pose can help lengthen and stretch your spine, shoulders and chest.

This modified version of Anjaneyasana pose is great for strengthening the quadriceps and gluteus muscles while in your hot tub. We recommend that these poses are done in between deep soaks in your Cal Spas hot tub to increase muscle elasticity.

This modified version of Horse Pose requires intense focus. The pose requires strong ankles for balance, and benefits the neck, back, abdomen, knees and calves.

Cat-Cow is a gentle flow between two poses that warms the body and brings flexibility to the spine, easing back pain that you may have. Coordinating this movement with your breathing relieves stress and calms the mind. Mix this move with the hydrotherapy of your hot tub and you’ll achieve pure zen!

This modified Pigeon Pose stretches deep glutes while alleviating sciatic pain, some say it may even help with urinary disorders. Attempt this pose toward the end of your soak when your muscles are at their peak of flexibility.

A Hot Tub Summer

This summer is geared up to be a scorcher! A 102° hot tub will probably not sound as appealing as it does right now. However, there are ways to make this summer A HOT TUB SUMMER. There are certain things you can do to enjoy you spa this summer without overheating your body. Just keep reading to find out how:

Normal body temperature is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit, anything cooler than that will automatically feel refreshing. Setting your hot tub’s temperature around 90° would be a nice way to cool down in your hot tub. Remember, you don’t want to disconnect your tub as it needs to continue filtrating. Idle water inside the pipes could also cause corrosion which can then lead to bigger problems. S-525L Sml Environment

If you don’t want to lower your hot tub temperature, another option is to hot tub at night. Summer nights are usually much cooler, and you’ll be able to actually enjoy a warm hot tub instead of bearing the heat from the sun and the tub as well.

It’s not too late for that summer body! Anyone who has been in a spa before is familiar with the relaxing effects of hydrotherapy. The heat from your spa increases blood flow and promotes deep muscle relaxation, increasing your flexibility. Cal Spas recently introduced Hot Tub Yoga, demonstrated by professional yoga instructor Kelly Deva. Watch Kelly demonstrate basic yoga poses inside a hot tub that will stretch and soothe sore muscles, while straightening and targeting specific muscle groups.
